Detroit Lions fans sit and wait over the possible two-game suspension for wide receiver Jameson Williams over a Performance-Enhancing Substance violation.

As we find ourselves in the middle of the week, numerous inquiries are arising regarding the status of Williams’ anticipated suspension, especially since the NFL has yet to announce any official decision.

Sources told ESPN Williams reportedly tested positive for a prohibited substance earlier this week. However, there remains an opportunity for him to appeal the suspension, which is likely the reason the league has not made an official statement yet and why Jamo is still permitted to practice with the team.

Either way, the Lions seem ready to be without Jamo this upcoming weekend if and when the NFL decides to drop the suspension on the 23-year-old wideout.

“I trust this kid. I trust him. And unfortunately, you’ve got to pay for your sins,” Lions head coach Dan Campbell told the media on Wednesday. “If something happens and this comes down, so be it. But I know this, we dangled the rope down on the way up. We can’t wait for anybody.

“And over a year ago, he started climbing his way up and he got to us. And maybe he lost his grip, but he’ll climb back up again. That rope’s still there. It’s tied to us, and he’ll be just fine, but he’s part of this team and I trust him.”

Campbell also added that he doesn’t believe this looming suspension will derail any progress Williams has made when it comes to his maturity after being suspended last season for betting on non NFL games in a league facility.

“He’s matured so much, and I get it, I understand where it’s at. I know it can be frustrating,” Campbell said. “Look, it’s frustrating for us and it’s frustrating because I’ve got to answer these questions and the team is going to have to answer them when they shouldn’t have to, but ultimately, he’s taken huge strides.

“He’s made huge strides, and I recognize that and I think the team recognizes that. So, I think he’s going to come back better than he was before.”

It’s still unclear what exactly Jamo was popped for, however, what’s interesting about all of this at this point in the week is what new information the Lions wide-out potentially ascertained during this whole ordeal which could help his case in an appeal. Remember, as soon as news on a suspension dropped Monday night, Jamo seemed certain that he was going to take the punishment “on the chin”. If he’s mulling over fighting the ban, then perhaps there’s something more to all of this that we haven’t learned. Plus, it’s important to keep in mind that this whole suspension was for a suspected performance-enhancing substance, not a drug, which could be anything from a supplement taken during a workout or something prescribed by a doctor. This has really nothing to do with a steroid, something most people looking at this whole thing may want to jump to.
