In the final few minutes of Detroit City FCโs 0-1 win over the Birmingham Legion, shit got testy when Legion forward Stefano Pinho open-handed slapped City defender Devon Amoo-Mensah across the face.
Pinho was immediately shown a yellow card for his actions; however, he was fortunate he wasnโt shown a red card for the strike. Deliberate hands to the face typically result in a red card. This decision should have been straightforward unless the referee didnโt see it.
But if the referee didnโt see it, then why was the yellow card issued to Pinho in the first place?
