Phil Mickelson was able to recover from a six-shot deficit to take a two-shot lead in just six holes. He ended up an 8-under 64 for a two-shot victory over Charlie Wi winning for the fourth time at Pebble Beach.
Furthermore though Mickelson beat Tigers Woods by 11 shots becoming only the ninth player in PGA history with 40 wins.
โPebble Beach โฆ it feels awesome no matter what number it is,โ Mickelson said.
Woods though once again fell apart on the final day, similar to what happened to him a couple of weeks ago in Abu Dhabi.
โI didnโt hit it as bad as the score indicated, but I putted awful,โ Woods said. โAs good as I felt on the greens yesterday, I felt bad today. Anything I tried to do wasnโt working. Consequently, I made a ton of mistakes on the green.โ
