Something appears to be happening between the United Soccer League (USL) and PRO Referees.
According to a Reddit post, the two sides appear to be dispanding their working relationship heading into the 2023 season after USL apparently decided to go a different direction.
Furthermore, according to the post, the reasoning behind the split was USL “did not want to pay the training expenses PRO was proposing in addition to the administrative expenses PRO might incur adminstering (sic) the refereeing of USL matches…”
USL has yet to make any public comment regarding the apparent split. We also reached out to the league for comment but haven’t yet heard back.
