During a Thursday panel on WXYZ, Lions great Calvin Johnson took aim at Donald Trump’s massive failure when it came to the COVID-19 response.
“What if we had a leader by example that wears his mask, that preaches social distancing, and believes in the science?”
Indeed, what if?
As of Saturday morning, the United States has seen 6.22 million cases of coronavirus infections and 188,000 deaths as a result. Anything from promoting the wearing of a mask to help reduce the spread to having a sense of urgency when it came to implementing the Defense Production Act to produce vital PPE just simply wasn’t done by the administration who would rather play politics than help save lives.
But you can’t place all the blame on Trump. The bullshit COVID-19 response was a multi-level government fuckup from the federal to the state and municipal. While people were dying from lackluster healthcare options, losing the ability to put food on the table, and getting evicted from their homes the leaders and the facilitators of private wealth stood idly by only to make sure their pockets were well lined with cash as the pandemic continued to kill thousands.
As far as Megatron goes, he’s right but will catch criticism from the same people who think kids are being trafficked in the basements of pizza restaurants or will point to the flu killing more people than the coronavirus… All while completely ignoring the science and reality of COVID-19 being something completely new to the medical world while those 188,000 deaths and 6.22 million cases are IN ADDITION to every other sickness the United States contends with during a given year.
