Detroit
๐Ÿ“ธ: NY Post

Last Saturday, Garth Brooks โ€” arguably the biggest country music artist in the world โ€” played a show in Detroit at Ford Field to a crowd of more than 74,000.

And in typical fashion, the performer (whoever that may be) will usually play up to the hometown crowd by wearing the jersey of a popular athlete in said town. In this case, Brooks wore a Barry Sanders jersey since the concert was in Detroit and Barry is obviously a staple here.

Well, apparently the greatest running back in NFL history cannot be distinguished from Bernie Sanders to certain factions of mouthbreathers within Brooksโ€™ fanbase.

And since reactionaries are usually clown shows in and of themselves, when word got out that Brooks had the โ€œballsโ€ to endorse a sOcIaLiSt in Bernard Sanders, the singer took massive amounts of heat.

Noisey:

โ€œGood grief. Canโ€™t you just do what you get paid to do????โ€ a user named @jenjensoccermama wrote. โ€œWhy why why does it have to involve politics!!! So sad. We donโ€™t pay good money for anything other than to watch you perform. Thought you were different.โ€

โ€œNothing like supporting a communist to loss [sic] a few fans,โ€ @chrisay59 screeched. โ€œHow about going to a successful socialist country and doing some research? Oh yes, you canโ€™t because there arenโ€™t ANY successful socialist countries!โ€

โ€œIf this is for Bernie Sanders, Iโ€™m done with you. I thought you were a true American that loves Our Country,โ€ @smoke52020 added.

Now Bernie has yet to respond to the backlash, however, Barry tweeted asking for Garth to be his VP, which the singer acceptedโ€ฆ

And since Barry now has a campaign to think about, the Lions were quick to get an election poster designed and put out on social media.

I mean, Iโ€™m going to be casting my ballot for Bernie here in the Michigan Primary but I can admit, Sanders (Barry)/Brooks has an interesting ring to it.
