Michigan State offensive lineman Arthur Ray Jr., is up for the America’s Choice Honor for Courage in Sports Award. This comes after Ray was able to return to the Spartans after battling bone cancer and multiple surgeries for over four years.
Fans will be able to vote at Facebook.com/CourageInSports each week. The winner will be announced on November 13th at 5PM.
Ray’s story is truly an inspiration one. After being a recruit by head coach Mark Dantonio in 2007, he was diagnosed with cancer before he arrived on campus. After his diagnosis Ray had nine surgeries, multiple infections and spent two years on crutches. He was cleared to play back in April then on September 2nd’s season opener, team captain Joel Foreman gave up his starting spot for Ray.
