WORLD SERIES: FREESE UP! CARDINALS FORCE GAME 7

After tonight’s Game 6 between the Cardinals and Rangers, I’m reminded of a song by the legendary Operation Ivy called Freeze Up, since that’s what the Rangers did at the hands of St. Louis’ David Freese.

The Texas Rangers had two chances to close Game 6 out, securing the franchises first ever World Series title. However that was until Cardinals third baseman David Freese homered to lead off the 11th inning to send the World Series into a Game 7 Friday night from the new Busch Stadium.

St. Louis now becomes the first team in World Series history to rally from 2-run deficits in the 9th and 10th innings.

Freese also hit a 2-run triple over the head of Texas’ Nelson Cruz to tie the score 7-7 in the bottom of the 9th against Neftali Feliz. Things once again looked bleak though for the Cardinals after Josh Hamilton hit a 2-run home run in the top of the 10th off Cards closer Jason Motte to once again put the Rangers up by 2 (9-7).

The Cardinals simply would not go away though after Lance Berkman hit an RBI single to once again tie things up 9-9 in the bottom of the 10th.

To add to Texas’ disappointment, they had a 7-4 lead in the 7th after Adrian Beltre and Nelson Cruz hit back to back home runs off Cardinals reliever Lance Lynn. Rangers second baseman Ian Kinsler also added an RBI off Octavio Dotel.

Now the question is, does Texas have enough left in the tank to put game 6 behind them and take care of business Friday night?
