Former Saginaw star DeAnthony Arnett gets full release from Tennessee, looking to transfer to Michigan or Michigan State

Former four-star recruit and Saginaw football star DeAnthony Arnett was granted his full release from Tennessee Volunteers coach Derek Dooley and is free to transfer to any school he chooses.

Arnett was given his full release from the Volunteer football program to be closer to his ailing father in his native Saginaw.

“I am very appreciative of coach Dooley for making this decision today!” Arnett tweeted. “We both have the same beliefs that family is first!”

Originally, Dooley was going to limit Arnett’s transfer options to MAC schools in which case Dooley himself and the University of Tennessee took some heat for. Furthermore Arnett stated that Dooley would only release him to a Big Ten school if he ended up paying his own way.

The general feeling now is Arnett will seek to transfer to either Michigan or Michigan State. Nick Baumgardner of AnnArbor.com adds however that Arnett may be leaning towards Michigan State due to Michigan’s limited scholarship numbers.

In his freshman season with Tennessee, Arnett caught 24 passes for 242 yards and two touchdowns in 12 games at Tennessee.
