The streak is over: Michigan holds off Ohio State for the win

The Game, as its often referred to now lost some it’s shine the past several seasons as Ohio State has dominated Michigan.

That was until this year when Brady Hoke and the Michigan Wolverines beat the Ohio State Buckeyes 40-34 today from the Big House, ending OSU’s seven-year run.

The Game had it all too, offense, defensive stands, break out runs, break out passes, bad penalties and plenty of underlying stories.

One of those stories includes the reports out of Columbus that former Florida head coach Urban Meyer would be taking over from Luke Fickell next season. Still Ohio State came into the Big House ready to play and ruin any chances Michigan had at obtaining a BCS at-large bowl berth at the end of the season.

However, despite having a touchdown overturned, a set of penalties that drove Michigan out of the red zone and having to settle for a field goal, Michigan was able to hold Braxton Miller and Ohio State off on their final drive to preserve the victory.

Michigan QB Denard Robinson was impressive yet again for Michigan both on the ground and through the air. The junior QB accounted for five TDs; he had touchdown runs of 47 and 6 yards and touchdown throws of 26, 20 and 4 yards. He completed 14 of 16 passes for 167 yards and ran 26 times for 167 yards.

Miller for Ohio State didn’t have a bad game himself going 13 of 21 for 229 yards and two touchdowns. He too was also effective on the ground running the ball 13 times for 91 yards and one score.
It was Miller inaccuracies though that may have been the difference.
On the final drive for Ohio State, Miller overshot DeVier Posey which could have resulted in a 76 yard touchdown reception and the lead in the game. However on the ensuing play Miller once again missed his target as Courtney Avery intercepted the pass ending any chance Ohio State had at making it eight straight wins over Michigan.
Michigan now waits to see which invitation they get come bowl season while Ohio State looks at a future that could include Urban Meyer.
