According to MLB.com blogger Jason Beck and the Detroit Free Press the Tigers will have both Max Scherzer and Doug Fister on Wednesday and have rookie Jacob Turner start on Thursday (both games in Kansas City). The moves were announced by Jim Leyland prior to Tuesday night’s game against the Royals and will be done in preparation for the post-season pitching rotation.

Scherzer will end up starting the game and Turner will not pitch long the following night John Lowe writes. This will also be Turner’s final action of the season.

Leyland also announced that Justin Verlander will get his final start of the regular season on Saturday when the Tigers take on the Baltimore Orioles from Comerica.

According to Jason Beck, Leyland will go with an extra position player during the playoffs opting for 11 pitchers and 14 position players during the postseason.
