Baseball players may often times be the most superstitious athletes there are, but what about the managers.
Well, Tigers manager Jim Leyland certainly seems to be a very superstitious person, even going to great lengths to ensure his team keeps on winning.
According to Chris Iott of Mlive.com, Jim Leyland has smoked a cigar every day and will continue to do so until they lose. He’s also worn the same baseball socks everyday as well as another piece of clothing…
“I will wear these underwear until we lose,” Leyland said. “I can tell you that right now. And they will not be washed. And I don’t give a (expletive) who knows it.”
You gotta feel sorry for the clubhouse attendant that picks up those ripe drawers when the Tigers do finally lose. I guess the good thing is at least it’s starting to cool down this time of year.
UPDATE: Apparently hitting coach Lloyd McClendon hasn’t changed his underwear either during this winning streak.
