The Big Ten has named Michigan State defense end Marcus Rush, a redshirt freshman the Big Ten’s Freshman of the Week.

The Cincinnati Moeller alum, Rush had four tackles, including a tackle for loss as well as his first career sack in Michigan State’s 10-7 win over Ohio State Saturday in Columbus.

Rush though was just one of the bright spots on a Michigan State defense that recorded a combined nine sacks and 13 tackles for loss. They were also able to limit Ohio State to 35 yards rushing.

Rush is the first MSU freshman of the week since running back Le’Veon Bell won the honor last September.
