The Red Wings are down in Tampa Bay tonight to face Steve Yzerman and the Tampa Bay Lightning.
There are a few injury and lineup notes leading into tonight’s game for the Red Wings.
Defenseman Ruslan Salei will be out of the lineup tonight as he is still with his wife in California who just gave birth to their third child. He is expected to join the team in Florida on Friday when they take on the Panthers.
Center Valtteri Filppula who is still recovering from a sprained MCL was on the ice today for the first time since February 7th against the New York Rangers. Filppula said he still isn’t ready to go but is starting to feel better and isn’t expected back until next Tuesday at the earliest when the Wings take on the Sharks at the Joe.
Chris Osgood was also on the ice today in full pads and partaking in movement drills to see how he is reacting after having sports hernia surgery on January 11th.
“Every day I feel better,” Osgood said. “I still don’t know when I’ll be back. Definitely going in the right direction. It was a lot better than I expected today, so that’s a good sign.”
