David Price‘s personal vendetta against the media is continuing. However this time the Red Sox lefty has taken aim at former reliever and Red Sox analyst Dennis Eckersley.
According to Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe, Price got into a verbal confrontation with Eckersley during a team flight from Boston to Toronto. Eckersley is currently an analyst for NESN.
Via the Boston Globe:
A verbal confrontation Thursday night between David Price and Hall of Famer Dennis Eckersley on the Red Sox team flight from Boston to Toronto has been confirmed by team sources.
Eckersley, an analyst for NESN, was asked about the incident before Friday’s game against Toronto, but would not comment. A similar no comment came from president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski and team president Sam Kennedy, both of whom are trying to deal with the incident in-house.
This is the second such incident with a member of the media for Price while with the Red Sox. Earlier this season Price confronted Comcast Sports New England baseball writer Evan Drellich after what are said to be “harmless” tweets towards the Red Sox starter. Price also had a pretty spat with Lynn Henning of the Detroit News while with the Tigers.
What makes this latest incident a little more bizarre is Eckersley has recently been complimentary of Price’s work on the mound.
Red Sox manager John Farrell and team president Dave Dombrowski were expected to discuss the matter with Price. However it’s unclear if any disciplinary action towards the pitcher will take place.
