JaQuan Lyle apparently quit the Ohio State basketball then got himself arrested

JaQuan Lyle may want to rethink his life choices.

According to a team spokesperson, the former four-star guard quit the Ohio State basketball program after two nice seasons with the Buckeyes. This included a 2016-17 campaign where the 6-foot-5 Indiana native averaged 11.4 points and led his team in assists.

However everything seemed to have come to a head early this morning when the junior was taken into custody in his hometown of Evansville, Indiana for disorderly conduct, public intoxication and criminal mischief to a vehicle.

Via The Lantern:

According to a police report obtained by The Lantern, a police officer asked a black male, later identified as Lyle, to leave after observing him stumbling through crowd and bumping into people at Piston’s Bar & Grill. On the way out, he punched the front door and was told he would not be allowed back in. Then, he walked over to a police car and punched it while officers stood just a few feet away, according to the report. Police arrested him and transported transported him to the Vanderburgh County Correctional Facility where he was charged.

This seems to be all part of some downward spiral for Lyle – who according to that OSU official – quit the team back on April 11th. It also puts the Buckeyes in a awkward situation going forward when it comes to a suddenly thin backcourt. As of now Ohio State only has three guards under scholarship including C.J. Jackson, Kam Williams and incoming freshman Braxton Beverly. However that could be two guards if Williams decides to go forward with making the jump to the NBA this summer.
