It’s been a series of firsts for the South Carolina basketball team this March Madness.

After making their first Elite Eight in school history, the Gamecocks will now make their first final four appearances in school history after a 77-70 win over No. 4 Florida Sunday afternoon.

Down seven at the break, South Carolina tightened up the defense in the second half limiting the Gators to 30 points and keeping Florida off the board on the perimeter. After hitting seven three’s in the first, the Gators went 0-for-14 in the second finishing the game a putrid seven-of-26 from downtown. Add to that a 31-24 edge in rebounding and a plus-16 in turnovers and South Carolina will not head to Phoenix and go for the upset of No. 1 Gonzaga.
