A 24-21 overtime loss to Kansas appears to be the final straw for Texas head coach Charlie Strong.
Reports out of Austin are indicating the Longhorns are opting to fire Strong after two-plus season with the team where he’s accumulated a 16-20 record.

On top of his poor overall record, Strong is en route to possibly oversee three consecutive losing seasons with the Longhorns which would be a first for the school since the 1936-38 seasons. This also includes a 5-10 record against ranked opponents while possessing the lowest winning percentage for any head coach in UT football history.
According to Darren Rovell, Strong is also the most costly coach per win among failed hires in college football leading Notre Dame‘s Brian Kelly (who hasn’t been fired… yet) and Charlie Weis during his days at Kansas.

Unfortunately however for Strong, he may have entered a no win situation with the Longhorns who were going no where when Mack Brown was fired. Strong who came in from a successful tenure at Louisville cleaned up a program off the field which wasn’t enough for an alumni embroiled in politics who apparently wanted to win above all costs.
