If you thought the whole National Anthem protest was going to quickly blow over you may want to guess again.
That’s because the entire Garfield High School football team, out of Seattle took a knee during the National Anthem Friday night while the opposing in West Seattle joined them.

Now before you go and claim these kids are simply taking advantage of some fad engulfing sports there’s actually a reason Garfield High decided to do this that has really nothing to do with Colin Kaepernick, Arian Foster or wanting to mimic the NFL.
According to the Seattle Times, the team apparently got pissed off after hearing about the rarely sung third verse of the song that includes the following line, “No refuge could save the hireling and slave; from the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave.”
Stunned at the revelation and frustrated by their own experiences in modern-day America, the Bulldogs decided they wouldn’t stand for it anymore. The Garfield football team knelt in unison during the playing of the national anthem before its 52-9 Metro League win against West Seattle on Friday.
The team also reportedly had the blessing of their coaches and administration to do this. However I’m sure in the eyes of many Americans these are just a bunch of spoiled kids who don’t know the meaning of freedom. Which is funny because it’s that same type of tired rhetoric that adds to the irony in the opposing voice.
