Now that free agency is behind Yoenis Cespedes, the New York Mets outfielder has turned his attention to barnyard animals.

First for Cespedes it was arriving to Mets spring training atop a horse with Noah Syndergaard which seemed to tick off manager Terry Collins.

Luckily enough nothing died during that stunt.

However, aside from pissing off his manager, Cespedes’ latest bit of shenanigans has pissed off PETA.

So what did Cespedes do?

Well… Cespedes purchased a 270-pound champion pig raised by the 4-H club for $7,000 dollars. However instead of offering up some sanctuary to the champion pig, Cespedes decided to send it to the slaughterhouse.

As far as PETA goes, The Big Lead reached out to the animal rights group for their thoughts on the matter.

Yoenis Cespedes can afford $7,000 out of his own pocket, and this loving, loyal, and clever pig is paying the real price with his life. It’s a shame that Cespedes dropped the ball here and missed the opportunity to send this pig to a sanctuary, where he could have lived out his days in peace. We’re sending Cespedes some delicious vegan bacon in the hope that he’ll open his heart, not clog it with pig fat.

If Cespedes can’t keep the pig that’s understandable. Hell send it to a petting zoo or something. It’s also understandable pigs get slaughtered everyday for human consumption however buying a prized pig just to send to to the butcher seems harsh and cold-hearted… sorta like buying an expensive piece of art to only have your kids color on it.
