Even though it was a formality at this point, Bears running back Matt Forte confirmed on Instagram Friday morning he would not be back in Chicago next season.
The 30-year old veteran back provided the Bears a cap hit of $9.2 million in 2015. Despite though entering next season on the wrong side of the 30-year mark, Forte will undoubtedly still command a pretty big salary on the open market, something the Bears obviously weren’t willing to contend especially considering the impending rebuilding they’ll undergo.
Forte, a two-time Pro Bowler finishes his Chicago career with 12,718 yards since being drafted in the second round (44th overall) by the Bears in 2008.
