With it looking more and more unlikely that Dez Bryant and Demaryius Thomas get the long-term contract extensions they’re seeking the NFLPA may be looking to pursue collusion charges against the Cowboys and Broncos. This is according to Dan Graziano of ESPN.
Thought of the Players Association seeking collusion charges against Dallas and Denver first surfaced last Friday. However it’s starting to sound as though the NFLPA has gathered credible information linking the Cowboys and Broncos with possible discussion between the two franchises regarding the contracts in question.
Specifically the violation in question pertains to Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones’ discussion with Bryant in which he tells the wide-out negotiations he’s had with Broncos’ executive John Elway.
If either player doesn’t get a contract extension from their respective teams by Wednesday’s deadline both would be subject to playing 2015 with the franchise tag something Bryant has been openly against.
What a situation to say the least. Collusion aside what do you do if you’re the Cowboys or Broncos, especially the Cowboys? Bryant is certainly one of the top five best receivers in the game but is also a psychopath that needs a team wrangler so he doesn’t get into trouble off the field.
Collusion wise what the hell was Stephen Jones thinking in today’s League? Openly discussing with Bryant his dealings with other teams? Not smart.
