The Dodgers were the winners in the Hector Olivera sweepstakes as they signed the coveted Cuban infielder to a 6-year, $62.5M dollar deal that includes a $28M signing bonus.
MLB.com was the first to break the story on Olivera who had a .323 batting average over 10 seasons in the Cuban league.

Olivera likely won’t be a starter in the MLB come 2015 but based on his salary you’d think the Dodgers would get him into the lineup sooner rather than later. Starting at second base or third in 2016 seems like a more realistic option for the highly talented infielder.
