Former WWE superstar CM Punk was recently did an interview on Colt Cabana’s Art of Wrestling podcast. The interview itself is pretty in-depth regarding Punk’s departure from the WWE as well as opinion on WWE doctors, Vince McMahon, Triple-H and talent like Ryback.
Here’s some highlights from the interview:
- Punk says he never quit the WWE but was rather fired on his wedding day to current WWE Diva AJ Lee. Apparently Punk left the WWE back in January citing health and sanity issues. Just after that Vince McMahon informed Punk that he was suspended for two months before eventually serving him with termination papers in June.
- During his final months in the company, Punk says he was wresting with a concussion, broken ribs and injured knees. Punk said he suffered a concussion during the Royal Rumble and blasted the WWE’s concussion protocol that kept him wrestling despite him knowing he still had the concussion.
- Punk went on to blast a WWE doctor named Chris Amann who supposedly misdiagnosed a lump on his back saying it was a fat deposit that later turned out to be MERSA. Because of the misdiagnosis Punk said he ‘should be dead’.
- In terms of his WWE career, Punk said it was a failure because he never headlined Wrestlemania. He was called Vince McMahon an ‘out of touch old man’.
- Triple H thinks he (Punk) is a “piece of shit.”
- Punk said that Ryback is a ‘steroid guy’ and that wrestling him took 20-years off his life after suffering broken ribs and various other injuries.
- The WWE also was apparently worried that Punk would go to TNA but his lawyer told the WWE that he despised wrestling now and would never wrestle again.
