I donโ€™t advocate cheating in sports, but if youโ€™re a โ€œstudent-athleteโ€ how the hell do you become ineligible? Thatโ€™s always been a question Iโ€™ve asked myself. You know thereโ€™s always at least one person out there who just wants to be your โ€œfriendโ€ and will do anything to help you get by.
The reason I bring this up is because Michiganโ€™s Tate Forcier is academically ineligible for Michiganโ€™s Gator Bowl date with Mississippi State on New Yearโ€™s Day. Forcier is the backup quarterback to Denard Robinson and If Devin Gardner got the redshirt that Rich Rodriguez requested, the Wolverines are screwed if Robinson gets hurt. I donโ€™t know if he got the redshirt or that he can pull it.
Back to Tateโ€™s ineligibility. How does he screw up in the classroom? Granted, Iโ€™ve never been on a college campus, so Iโ€™ll never know how hard the classes actually are, but you would think that the University would provide an outlet for struggling student athletes.
Forcier explained that he has never been the greatest student. Well that seems apparent now. He also said that he was street smart, but not smart classroom-wise. Funny, I didnโ€™t know you were from the mean streets Tateโ€ฆ
Like I said, I donโ€™t know how hard being a โ€œstudent-athleteโ€ in college can be, but you would think they would give you the resources to succeed. And if you have a hard time achieving in the classroom, thereโ€™s probably always someone there to โ€œhelpโ€.
