Mariano Rivera, the greatest closer in MLB history made his final appearance at Yankee Stadium last night in one of the most emotional sendoffs you’ll ever see in sports.
Rivera, whose made his ‘farewell tour’ throughout Major League Baseball this season was called from the bullpen by manager Joe Girardi in the top of the 8th inning with one out and two men on and one out.
But that wasn’t it…
When it was time for Mo to exit, it was his longtime Yankee teammates Derek Jeter and Andy Pettite (who also played his final game at Yankee Stadium) who went to the mound to retrieve the legendary closer.
It was almost perfect. Except for the fact that the Yankees won’t make the playoffs and will have to close out the season in Houston.
