The Washington Nationals and third baseman Ryan Zimmerman have agreed on a six-year, $100 million contract extension. The deal which includes a no-trade clause will be added on to this current two-year deal meaning the Nationals have Zimmerman locked down through the 2019 season.

With the deal in place Zimmerman will make around $16.7 million dollars a season. He also now becomes the third highest paid third baseman behind the Yankees’ Alex Rodriguez and now Detroit’s Miguel Cabrera.

Throughout his career the 27-year-old Zimmerman has finished a season with an OPS above .800 just three times.
