The 49ers and Dolphins struck a blockbuster deal Friday.

According to Adam Schefter, San Francisco will receive the No. 3 overall pick in this year’s draft while the Dolphins will get the No. 12 overall pick this year as well as the Niners’ third-round comp pick they received for Robert Saleh, and first-round picks in 2022 and 2023.

Although it’s unclear which direction the New York Jets go, San Francisco has squared themselves away to draft a quarterback with that third pick.

Trevor Lawrence will undoubtedly be gone with the first pick to Jacksonville, however, the 49ers may have their pick of either Zach Wilson out of BYU, Justin Fields out of Ohio State, or Trey Lance out of North Dakota State.

Obviously, this leads to the question of what happens to Jimmy Garoppolo?

Schefter also reports that at this time San Francisco has no plans to trade Garoppolo, and will apparently roll with him as the starter for this upcoming season.

UPDATE: The Dolphins in turn moved back up in the draft trading that No. 12 overall pick to the Eagles for the No. 6 overall pick.
