The Red Wings and Blackhawks swung a deal tonight as Detroit acquired forward Brendan Perlini from Chicago in exchange for defensive prospect Alec Regula.
This marks the second time in as many seasons that Perlini has found himself traded as the former 12th overall pick in 2014 as the Arizona Coyotes traded him and Dylan Strome to the Blackhawks in exchange for Nick Schmaltz.
Perlini has 45 goals and 72 points in 200 career NHL games but fell out of favor this season appearing in just one game logging just eight minutes of ice time.
Meanwhile, Regula is a former third-round pick by the Red Wings last year. The 6-foot-4 blue-liner has had a nice start to his season with the London Knights in the OHL recording 11 points in just 10 games.
