If you’re a Pistons fan that loves to bask in the misery of former Pistons then you’re probably going to love this.

According to former Detroit big man Andre Drummond, the situation as it stands in Cleveland is worse than that in Detroit.

This news came via Shams Charania, Jason Lloyd and Joe Vardon of The Athletic who reported Drummond telling his new teammates just that in the wake of a trade that sent him from Detroit to the Cavaliers in exchange for John Henson, Brandon Knight, and a 2023 second-round pick.

Drummond also indicated that the current state of the Cavaliers and what transpires this summer could determine whether he exercises his $29 million player option for next season.

Essentially, things go from bad to worse for Cleveland who less than 24-hours ago bought out the contract of head coach John Beilein who was in the midst of a disastrous first season with the team after the Cavs lured him away from his successful stint with the University of Michigan. J.B. Bickerstaff will take over as the new head coach, however, Bickerstaff becomes the fourth head coach over the past two seasons in Cleveland after Tyronn Lue was fired after an 0-6 start last season while Larry Drew wasn’t retained.

Meanwhile, the thought of pairing Drummond — who’s in the middle of his best pro season statistically — with the likes of Collin Sexton, Darius Garland, and five-time All-Star forward Kevin Love certainly seemed enticing enough for the Cavs to pull the trigger on the trade. However, for as good as Drummond has seemingly been throughout his career, the makeup of his game never transitioned to winning on the floor.

Frankly speaking, if Cleveland is going to try and build around Drummond the situation isn’t going to get any better. Nor is it really believable that he’s going to waive his player option next season and pass on his $29 million dollar option when the current NBA game dictates he’s not worth that amount of money.

Again though, if you’re a Pistons fan, you have to feel at least a little better when you hear all this.
