If the god awful uniforms were all it took for Michigan State to finally get a pulse out of their offense then I’m sure we’ll be seeing more of those neon monstrosities regularly going forward.
In all seriousness though, after opening up last weekend with another flat offensive performance against Tulsa Michigan State responded with a 51-17 blowout of Western Michigan sparring Spartan fans of the team playing down to their competition.
Brian Lewerke looked sharp throwing for 314 yards and three touchdowns while Elijah Collins who made a prime case for the starting running back job after posting 192 yards on seven caries. The win also gave head coach Mark Dantonio 109 wins career wins at MSU tying him with Duffy Daugherty for the most in school history.
Despite the refereshing response on the part of the Spartan offense after last weekend’s dud, there’s still plenty of work for Michigan State to complete as they move forward on the season. Tonight it was the defense especially that needs to be tightened up as Western Michigan seemingly moved the ball with relative ease on those short dump off passes.
Looking ahead to next weekend, Michigan State will play host to Arizona State who beat the Spartans 16-13 last season. Meanwhile Western Michigan with host Georgia State.
