🏈 The Lions could trade Darius Slay if an extension isn’t reached soon

Despite not pulling the trigger on a trade last season the future of Lions corner Darius Slay is still very much in question.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Pro Bowl defensive back could be dealt by Detroit if a deal on a contract extension isn’t agreed to within the coming weeks.

The Lions and Pro Bowl corner Darius Slay continue to discuss a long-term contract, but the expectation exists that he could re-enter the trade market if no deal is reached in coming weeks, per source. Both sides have been at this for a while, still no deal for 2021 FA.

The Lions ended up holding onto Slay prior to the trade deadline in 2019 after opposing teams balked at Detroit’s asking price. The situation though between the Lions and Slay gets a little more dire for both sides in 2020 as the corner will be entering the final season of a deal that’ll pay out $12.04-million dollars in annual salary.
