USWNT

The World Cup means nothing when it comes to going for an Olympic medal at Rio 2016. The USWNT can tell you that first hand.

Today the USWNT lost 4-3 in penalties to Sweden which was actually the first time a women’s soccer game at the Olympics has ever gone penalty kicks which is pretty remarkable in and of itself.

Alex Morgan tied the game last in the second half however two disallowed goals (for both teams) in extra time set Sweden up for the win in the elimination game.

Today’s loss also marks the first time the USWNT would not play in the Championship Game at the Olympics.

I guess there’s a first time for everything.
