Tensions boiled over early during the Yankees/Red Sox series weekend finale at Fenway when Boston starter Ryan Dempster drilled A-Rod in the back on a 3-0 count. This too came after Dempster threw behind Rodriguez during the first pitch of the at bat with zero warnings being issued.

Yankees manager Joe Girardi however lost his mind (and probably for good reason) when Dempster wasn’t tossed by the home plate umpire. He (Girardi) also looked to have some choice words for Dempster as it appeared he yelled “f*cking p*ssy” in the direction of the Boston starter.

Nonetheless Girardi was ejected from the game for the heated exchange and Red Sox manager John Farrell defended his pitcher saying Dempster was just trying to take command of the inner half of the plate and had it get away from him… ok.

UPDATE: Rodriguez took Dempster deep to center field for a solo home run in the 6th inning.
