Jim Thome is heading back to the city where it all started for him.

According to Buster Olney of ESPN, the Minnesota Twins have sent the veteran slugger to the Cleveland Indians for a player to be named later. The two sides will have until October 15th to agree on that player to be named later , tweets Jordan Bastian of MLB.com.

Although his preference was to return to the Philadelphia Phillies where he played from 2003 to 2005, he could have rejected a deal to any team due to his no-trade clause.

Cleveland however is an excellent fit for the soon to be 41-year-old player. With Travis Hafner on the 15 day DL, Thome will be inserted into the designated hitter spot in the lineup.
