Tom Coughlin and the Eagles? It may not be out of the realm of possibility.

According to Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports, Philadelphia is expected to interview the former New York Giants head coach Monday in an effort to fill their head coaching vacancy.

However in order for an interview to even take place, the Eagles will need to seek permission from the Giants to speak to Coughlin since he ‘stepped down’ from his role as Giants head coach with a year remaining on his contract. The general consensus though seems to believe that Coughlin was more than likely directed out by ownership in which case any possibility of the Giants standing in the way is probably pretty low.

Neither the Giants or Eagles have confirmed an interview, however if true the Eagles would certainly be turning their attention to a guy that knows the division well. You can’t help but wonder though just how much a 69-year old Coughlin (who’ll be 70 when the 2016 season starts) has left in the coaching tank?

It seems like the Eagles maybe should be looking for a more viable long-term solution.

But then again this is the NFL, long-term coaching candidates seem nonexistent.
