It was a tale of two halves Sunday at Super Bowl XLVII…

As Baltimore totally dominated the first 30 minutes taking a 21-6 lead into halftime it looked as though the Ravens put the final nail into the San Francisco coffin when Jacoby Jones returned the opening kickoff 108 yards for a touchdown tying an NFL record.

But as the lights went out in the Superdome (literally), the lights were still flickering with life on the 49ers sideline.

Taking advantage of the delay, San Francisco regrouped to score 17 points in the span of 4 minutes and 10 seconds cutting Baltimore’s lead down to 28-23.

After a Justin Tucker field goal to increase the Ravens lead to 31-23, Colin Kaepernick finally was able to use one of his biggest weapons, his feet as he rushed for a 15 yard touchdown (a Super Bowl record) to pull the Niners within 2 points after missing the two-point conversion.

And then this is where things got a little crazier…

With Justin Tucker hitting another field goal giving the Ravens a 34-29 lead Kaepernick was able to lead the 49ers down field getting themselves within scoring range to actually take the lead late in the fourth quarter. But on a fourth and goal play it appeared as though their may have been a defensive holding penalty in the end zone as Kaepernicks pass sailed out of bounds. But no call made and the Ravens took over on downs with the Super Bowl victory now well within reach.

And after an intentional safety by the Ravens to help take time off the clock San Francisco couldn’t overcome a poor first half as time ran out on the clock.

Joe Flacco now becomes a Super Bowl winner and MVP while Ray Lewis rides into the sunset with the Vince Lombardi Trophy in hand.
