Lakers

Some pretty chilling terrorist threats were made prior to a Lakers/Clippers game back in late January.

According to a report from TMZ, a robotic voice called into a LAPD officer at approximately 7:30PM PT prior to the January 29th tip between the two teams at the Staples Center. The threat claimed that “Several people in the crowd seated strategically have explosives strapped to their chest and explosives in their shoes.”

Here’s more from TMZ:

The voice went on to say, “Some of them are also strapped with Glock 18, have guns and will shoot any patron that may come in their path. We are doing this for Allah and for Jihad. We are going to slaughter the patrons of tonight’s Lakers/Clippers game and there is no one that can stop us.”

The caller wasn’t done … “We have people hostage in some of the bathrooms already and we shot one in the knee cap. You are all going to f***** die tonight, you filthy Americans.”

Obviously nothing happened that night however soft targets around the country, like sporting events remain a growing concern for security officials, especially after what happened in Brussels this week.

The call to the Staples Center was apparently made from a Skype line while law enforcement officials have obtained a warrant to force the handover of account information.

It’s not known if any arrests pertaining to the investigation have been made.
