Terrelle Pryor announced Tuesday through his lawyer that he will not return to Ohio State for his senior season. According to his lawyer he (Pryor) “has decided to forego his senior season” for “the best interest of (his) teammates.”. Furthermore Pryor’s lawyer goes on to say that the NCAA investigation surrounding his client has been an “emotional roller-coaster”.
It is now assumed that Pryor will try his luck in the NFL supplemental draft.
In what could be very significant, Pryor’s departure from Ohio State now means that he doesn’t have to cooperate with NCAA investigators.
Pryor’s departure comes on the heals of the resignation of Ohio State head coach Jim Tressel and the allegations surrounding the Ohio State football program. To make matters worse for Ohio State, ESPN’s Outside the Lines say a former friend of Pryor’s witnessed the now former Buckeye QB make $20,000 to $40,000 signing autographs. This could explain Pryor’s ability to pay for the amount of cars he had during his tenure at the University.
In three seasons at Ohio State Pryor compiled a 34-4 record and led the Buckeyes to two BCS bowl wins. Even though Tressel and Pryor are gone, Ohio State will have to deal with the mess they’ve made for season’s to come.
