Ken Whisenhunt

The Tennessee Titans have announced on their official twitter account that they have “relieved” head coach Ken Whisenhunt of his duties today.

They have also announced that former Jacksonville Jaguars and Buffalo Bills head coach Mike Mularkey will be the new head coach on an interm basis. Mularkey was already on the staff as the assistant head coach and tight ends coach.

Usually at this point in the article we tell you that so and so NFL Insider from this media organization leaked the story a couple hours ago and that the team publicly announced it shortly there after but that isn’t the case this time. The Tennessee Titans did the perfect leak proof press release.

Ken Whisenhunt was 3-20 in his tenure as head coach of the Tennessee Titans with an overall career record of 48-71 as a head coach in the NFL. He did make one Super Bowl as a Head Coach, in 2008 when he took his Arizona Cardinals where they lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Mike Mularkey is 16-32 as a head coach in the NFL including a 2-14 season as Jacksonville’s head coach in 2012.
