Giants kicker Lawrence Tynes hit a 31 yard field in overtime to send the New York Giants to a 20-17 victory over the San Francisco 49ers and a trip to Super Bowl XLVI against the New England Patriots.

The game truly was a seesaw battle between the two teams as they both combined for 9 total sacks.

The Giants were able to march on to victory after 49ers return man Kyle Williams was stripped of the ball by Giants special teams member Devin Thomas and was recovered by the Giants. This in turn set up the game winning field goal.

Both quarterbacks definitely had their better days but neither contributed to any type of downfall for their team.

Eli Manning was 32/58 for 316 yards and 2 touchdowns. Meanwhile Alex Smith was 12/26 for 196 yards and 2 touchdowns. Much of Alex Smith’s offense came courtesy of 49ers tight end Vernon Davis who had 3 receptions for 112 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Now Eli Manning heads to the house his brother built in Indianapolis to take on Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI. This will be rematch of Super Bowl XLII in which the Giants won 17-14, ending the Patriots’ bid for a perfect season.
