According to CBS Sports’ Mike Freeman even though there is still plenty of work to do in the NFL labor negotiations, there has been significant headway in reaching a new labor agreement. Freeman cites sources familiar with the negotiations.

Things seem to be going so well that one source said that a deal could be reached in 2-3 weeks, if not sooner.

One high ranking member of the former union estimated to me a new deal would be reached within two to three weeks, if not sooner. “This is the most optimistic I’ve been in many months,” he said.

These sources also caution that things could break down at any minute. This is very encouraging though after weeks of not much being said between the owners and players.
