Russian hockey fans held a protest of sorts outside the U.S. Embassy in Moscow over the disallowed goal that didn’t put Russia ahead in the third period of Saturday’s game between the two teams.

Much of the disdain though was directed towards Referee Brad Meier who made the ultimate decision to waive the goal after it was discovered that the net was off it’s moorings thus signaling the play dead according to IIHF rules.

Because despite a pretty definitive rule, what else is there to do in Russia in the middle of February?

By the way the above sign translates to “turn referee into soap”. No joke.
