It appears that Penn State University is making another big step in trying to put their past behind them.

According to Chris Mortensen of ESPN, Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien has agreed to become the Nittany Lions’ coach. CollegeFootballTalk.com writes that an official announcement from the school could come Saturday however an announcement may come sooner given the reports that are currently surfacing.

O’Brien’s name surfaced as a potential candidate earlier in the week and he reportedly had an interview in State College on Thursday.

The New England Patriots continue to prepare for their AFC playoff run however it is not known what the time-table will be in regards to O’Brien leaving the Pats and taking over Penn State football full-time.
