The Boston Red Sox announced Sunday that they’ve secured sponsorships from Budweiser and Kentucky Fried Chicken. The sponsorships are believed to offset the high cost that the club used on beer and fried chicken during the 2011 campaign.

“We’re very excited to announce our partnership with Budweiser and Kentucky Fried Chicken” newly named GM Ben Cherington said in a statement Sunday. “The chance to get FREE beer and chicken in our locker room should help free up some money in our budget”.

Red Sox pitcher Josh Beckett was equally as excited…

“I can’t wait to get the 2012 season started!” Beckett said. “Jon (Lester) and myself were really lobbying for KFC and Budweiser sponsorships”. Beckett added that the team was also considering Milwaukee’s Best and Church’s Chicken.

Cherington later told reporters that now that some of their more important sponsorships are secured for 2012, the team can really start to focus on their manager for next season.
