Jeff Fisher

Less than a day after tying the record for the most career losses for an NFL head coach, the Los Angeles Rams fired head coach Jeff Fisher.

What a weird situation though…

A couple weeks ago, it was announced Jeff Fisher received a two-year extension despite not having a winning season since 2008. It’s probably notable to mention too Fisher took over the Rams in 2012. He’ll finish this season 4-9 and guaranteeing another losing season for the organization who were ceremoniously welcomed back to Los Angeles this season only to got 1-8 in their last nine games.

What’s amazing however is despite the losses, Fisher is still above .500 in terms of his overall coaching record sitting at 173-165-1. This is undoubtedly helped by four seasons where he had four or less losses. During his tenure with the Titans, Fisher manged two 13-3 seasons in 1999, 2000 and 2008. He also managed one 12-4 season in 2003. Unfortunately those four seasons attributed to just six total winning seasons for Fisher whose NFL head coaching career has spanned over 22 years.
