On Friday during a radio interview, MLB Network analyst Peter Gammons sounded off on the Ricketts family (the owner of the Chicago Cubs) underestimating the cost of renovating legendary Wrigley Field calling one of baseball’s cathedrals a dump. This is according to the Chicago Tribune.

“The problem that (Chairman Tom Ricketts) has, and the Ricketts family has a serious issue, is they’re going to have to understand it’s not only rebuilding personnel,” Gammons said Friday on WSCR-AM 670.

“They have to make that ballpark livable. It’s a dump, Wrigley Field. They’re going to have to spend $200-and-something million on re-renovating Wrigley Field, do what the Boston owners did with Fenway Park.”

The Ricketts continue to be committed to renovating the nearly 100 year old ball park. The team is still exploring options to franchise any renovation project and haven’t had the help from the city of Chicago that Boston gave Red Sox owners to renovate Fenway. Still someone should let Gammons (who is a Red Sox slap) that Fenway is nothing to write home about.
