Paul Pierce signs a contract with Boston so he can retire a Celtic

Paul Pierce

Celtics fans looking to eradicate any memory of Paul Pierce playing for the Nets, Wizards and Clippers perhaps got some much needed satisfaction Monday.

Pierce, who played his last NBA game this past season – as a member of the Clippers – signed a contract with the Celtics to officially retire with the team he called home for 15 seasons.

As far as the financials go, Pierce will be waived immediately so any thought Celtics fans have of Pierce giving it one more go on the TD Garden floor can forget it. Because his contract is fully non-guaranteed his contract won’t count against the cap.
