Former Super Bowl hero Plaxico Burress gets released from jail today after serving 21 months for a concealed weapons charge in New York City. Immediately upon his release he becomes one of the more intriguing free agents this off-season despite the NFL’s present labor woes.

It is expected that Burress will travel to his home in Fort Lauderdale where he will meet with his parole officer and his agent Drew Rosenhaus who has already been campaigning for Burress via his (Rosenhaus) Twitter page.

“He will be a highly sought free agent once the lockout is over,”

Highly sought after free agents? Probably not. At 33 Burress’ situation is interesting considering the amount of questions that will surround him as he finds a team to play for this off-season. Can a 33 year old bounce back after 2 years away from the game? What kind of shape is he in? Has he learned anything from his time in prison? These are just some of the questions that Burress will have to come to terms with going forward.

But what about those teams that may take a chance on the wide out?

Kevin Armstrong and Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News came up with some odds on where the veteran free agent will end up once NFL free agency is able to begin. Here is what they have to say…

Leading the way are the Philadelphia Eagles (3-1), though the St. Louis Rams — and a reunion of sorts with Steve Spagnuolo, former New York Giants defensive coordinator — are right behind at 7-1. From there, the New York Jets are at 15-1, the Pittsburgh Steelers are 20-1, the Miami Dolphins are 25-1 and a return to the Giants is the longshot, at 50-1 (though we have heard that he’s completely off of some teams’ radars).

Like the Daily News says that odds on favorites again would have to be Philadelphia stemming from their success in helping Michael Vick get back into the NFL grove after serving his sentence for dog fighting.
