EFL Cup

Southhampton was good but the Manchester United led by Zlatan Ibrahimovic were better as Man U beat Southhampton 3-2 to capture the EFL Cup.

Ibrahimovic opened the scoring up at 19′ before ultimately securing the game winner at 87′. “I got the opportunity and I scored—it was a fantastic cross from Herrera. This is about a team effort, a collective, not individuals.” Ibrahimovic told Sky Sports after the match. He also told Sky Sports the joys of winning these trophies the longer you play, “This is what I came for. I came to win. The more I win, the more satisfied I get. You push it more the older you get. It’s all about collecting these trophies—I’m super happy, as wherever I’ve went I’ve won.”

Speaking of trophies, the this year’s EFL cup marks the Red Devils‘ fifth league cup in club history and the first in the Jose Mourinho era. Mourinho also becomes the first boss in United history to win a major trophy in their debut season.
